IDEAS FOR THE COMMUNITY
  1. Board Meetings should become more open and all board activities more transparent. Residents should be allowed to speak more freely at meetings.
  2. Bring back Board workshops and have more Town Hall Meetings allowing a free flow of ideas.
  3. Evaluate the Management Company and their staff, replacing any that need replacing. Strengthen the board's role in directing the Management Company.
  4. Evaluate our reserves and return them to a fully funded basis as soon as possible.
  5. Educate our residents in the roles of all our major vendors. Have the vendors make presentations at board meetings.
  6. Ensure regular and detailed financial statements at board meetings which are then promptly posted on line
  7. Our committees are falling apart because of board and management action. These need to be rebuilt and help to manage this wonderful community to everyones benefit. Then create an environment where we always have qualified volunteers to serve both on committees but more especially on the board.
  8. Re-examine the audio visual system in the Ball Room so that meetings can be broadcast live. The system was set up that way, but has been allowed to fall into a state of disrepair.
  9. Review our cleaning and maintenance services. Look at more effective ways of handling these, perhaps by combining them and replacing one or two of the resident services staff who might be made redundant to our needs.
  10. Look at the possibility of
    • Moving our financial year to the end of June. This would better allow us to manage our budgets because of the threat of storms and Hurricanes. Since these events generally occur in the 2nd half of our current financial year, there is always a concern about spending in the first half in case of a storm later on. By making this change we would be better able to manage our budget throughout the financial year.
    • While this would require a change in our Documents, look at the possibility of changing the Annual meeting to the end of December. This would allow an incoming to board to establish and then manage their own budget rather than having to work with a budget established by a previous board which may not coincide with their visions for the community.
  11. Resolve once and for all the problems with the East End of Pond/Canal 7. We have wasted too much money on this already and we are really back to where we started several years ago.
  12. Have the walking trail cleared up and all the dead branches on the trees removed.
  13. Sort out the community websites to ensure we have one efficient and effective site covering all our needs.
  14. Ensure that the Community is well prepared for any adverse weather events that may possibly occur in the future. This includes the proper trimming of our Oak Trees on a regular basis.
  15. Finalize the replacement of the pump house to ensure the long term health of our irrigation system.
